We’re excited to announce the launch of our Home is Hope storytelling campaign, which will highlight the powerful stories of Angelenos whose lives have transformed through access to housing and essential services.

These stories taught us that housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head— hope, community, safety, and health. Over the next few weeks, you will meet Angelenos across the County who told us about the lifesaving housing and services they received, which helped them reclaim their lives. These stories, from mothers, fathers, sisters, and neighbors, remind us that this crisis is not about statistics but about real people needing help and support.

Today, Los Angeles is the epicenter of homelessness in America. Targeted efforts to reform failing systems and change the status quo are showing results. Investments in more housing and essential services, with new levels of accountability, are giving Angelenos in need the stability and hope they need to rebuild their lives. This change is not just about getting people off the streets—it’s about offering lasting solutions that improve the quality of life for all Angelenos. We need to build on our momentum and invest in the working strategies because we are not going back.

How You Can Help

In LA County, voters will have a ballot measure before them that could determine the fate of the programs and services that are changing the lives of Angelenos like David and others we featured.

Measure A is a citizens’ initiative that would repeal and replace the existing homelessness sales tax with a new measure that would increase accountability and expedite results. Crafted by a coalition of housing experts, mental health professionals, labor leaders, and community advocates, Measure A takes lessons learned and ensures that programs with proven results get support and those underperforming lose funding.

The challenge is expediting results and implementing lessons learned so we don’t go back. With critical funding streams set to expire and critical policies needing support, we need Angelenos to get informed and involved.

Homelessness is the humanitarian crisis of our time. By changing the status quo and advancing suitable investments, we are proving that with the right investments, we can end the cycle of homelessness and reconnect Angelenos with a home, hope, and opportunity. This movement requires collective action; you can be part of the solution.
