A new Study, Commissioned by The Angeleno Project, shows that every dollar invested by the new measure generates 2.5x in economic output for the County.

Los Angeles is facing a severe housing and homelessness crisis. Over 75,000 people in the county are unhoused, and we’re short 520,000 affordable homes. Measure A is a bold new initiative on the November 2024 ballot that will replace and expand existing funding to fight homelessness and increase affordable housing in Los Angeles County.

Our Report

A new independent analysis commissioned by The Angeleno Project and conducted by HR&A Advisors reveals that Measure A would significantly boost the region’s economy. By approving a small ½ cent sales tax, we can generate $1.2 billion annually to create affordable housing, fund mental health services, and prevent homelessness across LA.

With more money set aside for housing preservation, Measure A could save benefiting households $6,000 each year.

Measure A would help alleviate homelessness, grow the number of affordable homes, create quality jobs, stimulate economic growth, and provide a measurable return on investment for the region.

Key Goals of Measure A:

  • Prevent Homelessness: Keep at least 10,000 Angelenos from becoming homeless every year.
  • Create Affordable Housing: Build and preserve at least 18,000+ affordable housing units over the next decade.
  • Support Mental Health Services: Provide vital services to at least 15,600 individuals annually.
  • Economic Growth: Generate over $3.1 billion in economic impact and support 25,800 jobs annually.

Why We Need Measure A

Did You Know?

75,000 people are currently homeless in LA County. This number has grown 70% over the last decade. The affordable housing shortage has reached a critical point with 520,000 units needed to meet the demand. Without a new, permanent funding source, our community risks losing the gains we’ve made in reducing homelessness.
